What did the first game do to have a following like this? Played it around last year and it was cool but dudes online are ready to sacrifice people for this to be released.
At the time it was probably the best metroidvania released in a long time. Art style was great, gameplay was sharp, and the charm system was unique and fun.
It really restored a feeling

Like @5n0man said. It's probably the best metroidvania game since SotN. The gameplay and art style really sets it apart from most games in the genre. What sucks is that the longer we wait, the more the anticipation builds, and the harder it will be for the sequel to meet expectations.

Plus a lot of good metroidvania came out since, some of them taking great deals of inspiration from Hollow Knight (which is a good thing), so there might be competition there for some people
