Hold up, The Thing (1982) was the first in an Apocalypse Trilogy?

I never even knew this. The thing was first, then Prince of Darkness was 2nd, and In the Mouth of Madness was the 3rd. I've never even seen the last 2.

From wiki:
Prince of Darkness is a 1987 American supernatural horror film directed, written and scored by John Carpenter. The film is the second installment in what Carpenter calls his "Apocalypse Trilogy", which began with The Thing (1982) and concludes with In the Mouth of Madness (1995).

Is this common knowledge or am I just slow?

I wouldn't say it's common knowledge unless you're heavy into movies. But yeah....I've known this for years.

Watch the other two movies. "Prince Of Darkness" is my least favorite out of the three but it's still pretty good. "In The Mouth Of Madness" is the last legitimately great movie Carpenter made.

I just finished both. Prince of darkness was :russell:, they should of let the anti god out. Homeless nikkas just standing out in the streets aint scary.

In the mouth of madness on the other hand....:picard:. Now I know exactly what silent hill ripped off. Such a demonic movie. I went in expecting not much since prince of darkness was cheesy to me but I enjoyed it a lot.

Silent Hill was also heavily inspired by "Jacob's Ladder".

The funny thing is, "In The Mouth Of Madness" was itself heavily influenced by a writer named H.P. Lovecraft. Sutter Cane, the creatures in the movie, and all his stories in the movie are based on Lovecraft.

Speaking of Lovecraft, whatever happened to that movie we was supposed to be getting, "at the mountains of madness"? We had a big thread on it years ago

Del Toro couldn't get it green lit because:

1. He was asking for like $200 mill, and wanted to make it R rated. That might fly now, since horror has kind of had a resurgence....but nobody was handing out that kind of money for horror back in 2012 or whatever.

Can't say I disagree with him though....you can't really make a low budget version of "At The Mountains Of Madness".

2. "Prometheus" came out around the same time he was trying to get the movie made....and a major plot point of that movie (humans were actually created by aliens) was stolen from "At The Mountains Of Madness". :francis:
