I say its got to be hollywood.

When you have your own in house PR team beaming the nacirema dream to some goat herder in Kabul its hard not to win as its easy to trick people into thinking its all sunshine and rainbows for everyone.

What you think?

Above the fray.
Based on the English language, British military imperialism, and then the American entertainment industry..minstrel shows, books, plays, music, vaudeville, radio, before Hollywood.
"Moving pictures", as my pastor used to call them, just dialed that influence up 100x. But the groundwork was already laid.

I don’t think Americans understand how before the internet the world’s perception of America came from hollywood, tv and music videos

Black American culture included

The thing America has done very well is assimilate, integrate and make things come together. All the clever inventions around the world and through history are eventually brought into America in addition to whatever we invent here. Walk into Target for example and imagine what it'd look like if you took away modern inventions and conveniences that came from other places.

Well, that's what many countries don't have. You tell people well we have all that shyt in America and they start looking over.

Imagine if companies like Toshiba, Yamaha, Sony, etc. only kept tech in house for example. Say goodbye to all them convenient kitchen appliances. What if we told Mexico to keep their recipes so that tortillas only belonged to them then say goodbye to tacos, burritos, no pizzas from Italy, etc. A lot of people go back to their countries and tell them folks about the food we got here.

If we didn't take from other countries and civilizations then China would be the only ones with toilet paper and guns (although world would probably be better without the latter). Nonetheless, you really still want to be using the community wet rag to wipe your ass in a public restaurant like the old days in America and Europe because we told China we don't want paper? Additionally, a lot of modern medicine and procedures were invented in other countries that have lead to our greater well-being.

Entertainment (especially from Black folks), great-tasting food, tech, etc. all taken from other countries and brought here for us to enjoy. That's why it's funny every time you try and see one group of people take credit for modern civilization. Being a melting pot is actually what keeps us at the top spot.

If we told the world "No we don't have this, that's a ____ thing. No we don't have ____, that country over there only does it though" then most people around the world wouldn't think we're that great.

Additionally, the very fact people can complain and bring up issues and actually be heard is a feature many countries don't have - like Russia for example. Folks are really underestimating that. Imagine if you live in a country where your opinion about how things are ran will get you thrown in jail if you get caught posting about it. America would sound 10000000x better for that alone.

No other country out there like us, that's why we're so culturally dominant.
