SMF and LAX to VA and NC
I can easily look this up, and I have šŸ¤£ but local posters who grew up in historically black hoods in NY, what was that like and how starkly does it contrast from growing up in less black regions of New York?

This is a random interest I have, probably generated from random memories where, I don't view NYers as pro black as you'd expect, given how many black people live there...

What neighborhoods did yall grow up in and what was the culture, connection to blackness specifically, that said neighborhoods had?

And why not :mjtf:? We got taught about all the Civil Rights leaders in public school, always did our best to support black businesses on the block (as long as they werent tryna hustle us on prices), and don't get me started on all the pockets of Caribbean neighborhoods :banderas: the only reason anyone would feel this way is cuz gentrification happened and took the soul out of a bunch of blocks...

One thing I wish I coulda done when I was younger was take pics of all the old blocks, murals, and hangouts/ballgames, see the before and after.

Predominantly White neighborhoods are more like mini suburbs, only went there if u wanted to buy something around there, but never any reason to stick around :skip:

I read somewhere there were neighborhoods that were predominantly black but shifted over time.

Greenwich Village for example

The kirk to the fields
I grew up in Flatbush which I mentioned many times before.

Now it is still majority black, but since 2014 there are a lot of gentrifying cacs walking around.

We're VERY pro-black in NY.

The KKK wasn't allowed to come out here when they tried, unlike the many other cities where they hold rallies.

Ask the Jews how we turned up on them at one point.

The Latin Kings were once on some L.A. style racist gangbanging shyt. Now, they're pretty much a non-factor in NY because of the Bloods.

If you talk to any random black NYer, no matter their background, they'll tell you how much they don't like cacs.

The black NYers I met who loved hanging around cacs, were from other states...

NYPD is hated by ALL.

C'mon y'all seen how many protests we had over the years. WAY more than a lot of supposedly black southern cities.

But NYers in general tend to not take things serious and would rather mind their own business.
