What do you remember about it?

What albums from that year did you like or still like and listen to?

Off the top of the head I remember liking The B Coming album

I remember listening to The Sweet James Jones Stories alot

The Further Adventures of Lord Quas was another

Common’s album BE (even tho I only listen to It’s Your World randomly now)

Proof’s Searching For Jerry Garcia got a lot of listens from me

I think DJ Quik dropped Trauma that year, and I remember listening to that too.

AZ’s album A.W.O.L., only thing I remember about this album is the single, The Come Up

GZA and DJ Muggs which was a huge highlight of that year, what a return to slight form for GZA :salute:

Houston's biggest year, imo
  • Bun B - Trill - the Get Throwed RMX
  • Pimp C - Sweet James Jones Stories - I Know U Strapped
  • Mike Jones - Who is Mike Jones..
  • Slim Thug - Already Platinum
  • Paul Wall - The People's Champ
Prolly missing a few, but Houston was finna take over the world....and then it didn't.

Ye's Late Registration - some of his best work - Crack Music is prolly one of his best. (Don't listen to the version with Game's verse...)
Jeezy - Let's Get It:Thug Motivation - seminal Trap album, especially the production. Gucci was right around this time as well, and that's all she wrote.

On the "underground tip' - Sean P's Monkey Bars - Mad Mann was my joint on this.

Weezy dropped the Carter 2 - I actually liked Shooter a lot, but Wayne has never been better than what he did during SQAD/Dedication era, imo.
The Game - as much as I hate him - dropped his first lp. Runnin with production by Hi-Tek - my fave joint on that.

That was prolly my last year of spinning/hitting the clubs 6 nights a week. I went from hip hop 24/7 to "not mentioned at all"...

Damn, this reminiscing got me kinda sad...

fat joe's "so much more" was on the radio heavy

jeezy dropped TM101, which was really the highlight of the year for me, shyt was all over limewire - - i must've played that "trap or die" track over a million times :banderas:"and then what" was really an anthem

jim jones - harlem: diary of a summer - - self explanatory

kanye's fakkit ass dropped late registration too, i remember seeing that "drive slow" music video everywhere

tony yayo with thoughts of a predicate felon - - "i know you don't love me" is forever in my rafters

gorillaz and that "feel good inc." track w/de la soul - - *chefs kiss*

twista with "the day after" album - - my first flip phone ringtone was "girl tonite" :mjlol:

paul wall dropped his "people's champ" album that year as well - - i had that "sittin' sideways" hook as a ringtone too :mjlol:

bun b - "trill" album - - that draped up remix was fukkin' insane when i first heard it

3 6 mafia - most known unknown :blessed:

the game - 300 bars and runnin' :gladbron:

wayne and "tha carter II" - - self explanatory

and lastly, that outta control remix was fukkin' everything - - RIP to the thunn prodigy :wow:

as i always said to myself, 05-06 were some great fukkin' years for me growing up with hip hop

Crazy run for Houston and then they Imploded and it basically ended . Mike Jones was on a canibus type of buzz but somehow it didn't work and he ended up like the bus

The Documentary

Basically Detox starring The Game

*Yup

*Funny how ppl never saw it like that but that is really what it was

*Dre's last great offering to the game (pun intended)

*A continuation of his Doggystyle - Chronic - 2001 lineage.

*Game was Dre's last Eminem/Snoop lvl protege he ain't even do that for Kendrick for real

*Game owes that nikka fo life. Dre basically and literally set him up for life wit that one

*Dre turned him into a hip hop mainstay with that jus like he did for Snoop with Doggystyle

*Game is still a thing to this day cause of that album.
