Hill Harper introduces "The Black Wall Street Wallet" -
The Good Doctor, is launching The Black Wall Street Wallet app. This app is a digital wallet that allows users to send each other money directly, similar to Cash app and Venmo.
It also allows users to trade cryptocurrencies, such as Either and Bitcoin. The app’s name alone is a testament to what Hill Harper is trying to create and the impact he is hoping to have on Black investors and Black wealth creation.The name of the app comes from the original Black Wall Street, one of the most prosperous Black communities in the US. The Greenwood district, especially along Greenwood avenue, was built in particular for Black people who wanted to escape poverty and discrimination faced elsewhere in the US. And in particular, to escape underdeveloped Black communities.
Black Wall Street offered them a library, restaurants, movie theaters, luxury shops, nightclubs and the largest Black owned hotel in the US. These businesses were free of “Whites only” signs that littered the south. This is why till this day Black Wall Street stands in our hearts as a symbol of Black prosperity and empowerment.The app’s goal is to both empower and educate Black investors as well as Latinx investors. The app not only lets you buy different forms of cryptocurrency and send money digitally, it also offers education on cryptocurrency so that investors can learn how to make wise investments.
Harper has also mentioned that the Black dollar leaves the community far too soon these days, unlike in Black Wall Street where dollars circulated plenty of times before finally leaving the community. He’s hoping that this platform can address this issue and put our money back into our hands.
The app will go live on June 1st of this year.
