the shoot interview business is over so giving it away for free is all they can do now.
Well not exactly, it's just different way of consumption than before. You don't goto a website and order a DVD or buy a digital download anymore. You buy the WWE Network, or you listen to the podcast, or you watch on youtube. All of this is monetized through product promotions and advertising revenue.
WWE is now producing pieces where their talent talks out of kayfabe and it's quite alright.
And even when the contract ends of someone interesting, they goto one of their friends in the business who have a podcast for their shoot interviews. (Jericho / Renee / etc)
Van Vliet is probably running the game right now. His channel is huge and a goto guy.
So yeah in terms of getting the most money of a back catalog of these older outlets like High Spots is to monetize on youtube. But to re-enforce, no talents goto a place like High Spots anymore where there are other outlets that will get them more exposure, or they can directly have an interview with one of their fellow wrestlers and help them out.
