Help me settle an argument about Royce White

Some guys at the office are having an argument about something Royce White said during this interview....

Royce said he hasn't received a check from the Rockets yet. The argument is that this is BS because he was on the inactive list and supposedly if you are on the inactive list you are suppose to be paid. I have no idea if this is true or not. I need somebody in this forum who is more well versed to break this down if possible and if he hasn't received a check why is that the case.

Part of this stems from the belief that because he has been fined at some point by the Rockets, they had to have been paying him and that they couldn't fine him if they never paid him. Just need a little education on the subject.

So are there any links or rule explanations to make sense of this? Based on that interview, he sounds truthful about not receiving a check.

I posted the interview with audio in the opening topic. That is blown way out of proportion. Its as if everyone is trying to make it like he disrespected McHale when he was simply trying to explain the difference in power McHale has compared to his college coach.

Yeah and see that was the source of the argument. No one could say for sure either way. Doesn't seem to be any info on it. That or I'm just not schooled enough in the Googles....

I feel you, but this honestly has more to do with the way salaries are handled. Royce White just happens to be the guy with an interesting case. I've asked on a couple of forums and no one can give any kind of answer. I think its info that no one is privy to. We know he signed a contract and he will be paid. That doesn't mean he has actually received a check yet. And if thats true, why not? Is that sort of thing typical? Do they have to play at least one game or something to get a check? Seems like there would be a rule book or soemthing to look at but if there is I can't find it.

Was he though? He said he hadn't received a check yet. I was just going by the tone of the interview, he didn't seem as if he was trying to make himself out to be some hard luck case that needed sympathy. He just stated that he hadn't received a check yet. Almost like there is some sort of red tape that hadn't allowed him to receive a check since he hasn't actually played. Thats why I was looking for the rules or more insight. All I get is people saying "Yeah he was paid....", but then nothing to back that up. And if they do, its an article where they say he was suspended without pay. That leads to an assumption that he was paid up to that point, but we don't know if that is the case. We assume because he is under contract that he got paid. But we don't know how that really works. Maybe a player has to actually play one game before they can ever get a check and when he finally does step on the court, all those missed checks will be in a lump sum or something like that.

I just find it all interesting. I always hear about a guy making X amount of money, but just how that works from game to game or week to week is never really explained. Jalen Rose touched on it a little on Grantland not too long ago but nothing as to the specifics of the rules by which a player can or can't be paid.
