And im pretty sure it's getting phished. I got it bc I accidentally open up this spammed email and dl'd the file (I was expecting an email from someone else). I know where the things downloaded to but I can't uninstall due to it being open.

Either way I got personal and banking shyt on u laptop and can't afford for that to be compromised. If I buy either of the following software should I be good?

Norton antivirus 2013, McAfee 2013 antivirus, avg internet security 2013

If you're running Windows 7 you can try a system restore to a previous point in time before you downloaded the file - but that's IF you enabled it in the first place. Once a system is compromised I can no longer trust it and the best way to be sure is to mount the hard drive to a linux environment and pull everything off of it. You can buy all the software you want breh but it's not going to replace common sense :skip:

The Wrong Side of the Tracks
1. Do an 'Online Virus Scan' to identify what virus has compromised your system...

Free Online Virus Scan - Bitdefender Online Virus Scanner

Free Virus Scan

Free Online Virus Scanner | ESET

Panda Activescan | Free Online Antivirus | Free Virus Disinfection - Panda Security <====uses IE

2. Once the virus has been identified by the scan, Google Search for that specific virus' removal instructions/tools.

3. ????

4. Profit.

You don't need to buy anything to protect your system from viruses with all the free antivirus software available. Personally, I use avast! | Download Free Antivirus Software or Internet Security (just the free antivirus) and the Windows 7 built-in firewall.

Boot your system in 'Safe Mode' by pressing F8 BEFORE the Windows logo appears on your screen after you push the Power button. Then again, this is a laptop you're talking about and depending on the manufacturer, you might have to press another key altogether.

Getting into your system via Safe Mode sometimes stops viruses from inhibiting your browser.
