help me choose between these 2 laptops. BUYING TODAY!!

so i had narrowed it down to these 2 laptops.


1) Macbook Air 13" 128 SSD - 2012
Apple MacBook Air 13.3" Intel Core i5 1.8GHz 128 GB Laptop - English : MacBook Air - Future Shop

and

2) Sony VAIO T Series 13" 128 SSD - 2012
Sony Vaio Ultrabook | 13.3" VAIO® T Series Ultrabook Laptop | Slim, Light & Portable Laptops | Sony Canada | SVT13115FDS


Basically I'm in the process of going to grad school and need to upgrade my 2007 Black Macbook. Will use for heavy internet and processing/excel stuff. would also stream live tv and movies from netflix etc.

I am familar with OSX, so i am leaning towards the air. but the sony at closer to half the price have similar specs, besides the osx.

what should i choose?

what would you suggest? i'm not the type that would buy a 500 dollar laptop ad switch it up every 2 years.

i had a black macbook since 2007 and been working fine. but thought i needed a change.

I'd go with the Sony by default, though I still think you're paying too much if all you want to do is use word processing software, go on the Internet, and stream movies.

quite slow. 1 gig of ram on dual core. plus giving to moms to use.

I have a macbook pro so I may be a little biased. I hear and read terrible things about the air, and it would be a waste of money if you only needed it for word processing. Go with the other one. (I would probably use the extra cash to make updates to my existing computer instead of buying a new one, if price was the issue)

what negatives have you heard? was it about the new 2012 versioN?

I think if you're going to get the 13" air you may as well get a pro.
They shyt on the 11" air because of it missing the superdrive and no sd slot. (I see you want the 13") The battery is trash too, but that's all of their products over time.

yeah i been debating before between the pro and air since they are priced the same. but like that the air is slim and easy to carry.

i have the black macbook which weighs the same as the pro and dont like logging that shyt around as much as it is less than others in the market.

just want a change.

Get the macbook air 2012 it does everything you need plus more and you can run windows on it if you need. Most people that talk about the air have never used one. the first gen airs did kinda suck. but the new ones are
