Help me choose from these two

Samsung 32' 379$

I'd hold out for 120hz. will you be gaming on this TV?

Neither!! If it's going to be your main living room TV. You're going to want at least 40"-42" & at least 120Hz at 1080p.

str8 up get something bigger. at least 42 inches for HD to matter.


also, 120hz is basically a gimmick (unless its gaming or something)

films are only 24-30 fps so you dont NEED the 120hz for blurays and what not.

120hz is not needed and often makes things look worse.

120Hz/240Hz (and up) HDTVs are NOT a gimmicks. If you use it for the Motion interpolation crap, than yeah I agree with it's a gimmick.

You're going to want a 120Hz if you want watch Films & TV Shows at their true 24fps (True cinema Mode). A regular 60Hz TV can't physically display Films & TV Shows at their true 24fps because 24 is not a multiple of 60, A regular 60Hz TV has to use 3:2 pulldown to display anything shot at 24fps.

So if you're going be doing serious movie watching (especially Blu-ray), I advise you to get a HDTV that is at least 120Hz.

i've yet to see a 120hz tv that looks BETTER while displaying movies than a regular tv. 120hz have to duplicate frames to achieve that rate. it's not natural.

also this doesn't apply to all tv's only the lower end ones like what he is looking for. most cheap 120hz tv simply don't look that good. but to each his own. i don't think it's worth the money.


it will also depend what you are using as your source though.

nikka, a regular 60Hz TV has to use 3:2 pulldown just to display 24fps content.
