Help, I got a lien on my property

My mom gave me a few acres to build a house.My loan officer called & said there's a 16k lien on it against my momma. She's broke, so Im gonna have to pay it

How much should I expect to settle for? I need as much advice as possible.

Alot depends on your state.
Maybe you'll get lucky.

When we had the attorney deed us the land & I asked her was their any liens on it & she said no and I took her word for it. That was a mistake

You can and use the proceeds to pay the lien. This would all be handled at closing. You would need a letter from them stating they will release the lien once funds received and give it to title and buyer.. Contact the lien holder and try and settle with them. This is why even if getting property/ land from family you need to do a lien search.
