1. Jamal Charles U take him first, no questions asked. The foot is bruised, he'll be fine. He was the best RB last year, is a safe pick, in that offense and with that QB to be the top this year in a PPR league with the checkdown king. Def. draft Kniles Davis...u dont have to handcuff everyone, but when the handcuff will provide high value, u do it. Def do it here, with the injury history and the high production davis will have.
2. Adrian Peterson Him and Lesean are interchangeable in my eyes. Lets be honest, these first 5 picks could all be the top RB in the league of fantasy... u need to base ure picks off of last years stats, injury history, offenses, offensive changes and predictions for this year. AP should be a bump up from last year in my eyes..no more ponder, Ill take Matt Cassel over him any day...u throw TB in there though, and it could be a grind for AP. still a safe pick no doubt.
3. Lesean Mccoy. Offense will again improve from last year with Nick Foles getting a full offseason. They will move faster. May lose touches to darren sproles, but lets be real, if he stays healthy (one of the few in this top 5 with no major history of injuries) hes a top 3 back. Dont get cute, draft Mccoy
4. Matt Forte Trestmans offense is beastly. Injury history? Yes. Monster last year? Yes. Take him here, racks up the receptions...little unfortunate Mccown is gone in light of a Cutler injury, but it is what it is.
5. Eddie Lacy Injury history yes, but hes a beast. So much more then t. rich....if healthy will score over 10 TD's...backup is a toss up between Starks and Harris, keep tabs on that if u draft him. Can catch the ball...I take him over C.Johnson cause i feel like at this position, this is where the break in RB's can happen (although Lynch isnt far behind)
6. Calvin Johnson Surest thing at WR. He may not finish the top reciever, but hes the SUREST bet to finish in the top 3. Draft him, take a RB on the way back, dont think twice about it
7. Jimmy Graham Biggest advantage at a position here....people are drafting Gronk in the second, extremely risky with high reward i suppose, but Jimmy is going to give a giant advatange. If u draft him here, u NEED to be ahead of everyone else in ure draft at the other position, bc u need to make up ground in the later rounds.
8. Demarius Thomas. Welkers a hit from retiring...best offense in the league...best QB...draft him, take a RB on the way back, or draft Peyton if u want to get cute with that combo.
9. Dez Bryant I think he may be the best reciever the league this year in PPR...but the other guys are "safer" but lets be honest, Calvin, DT, Dez, AJ, BMarshal, and Antonio Brown are going to be close enough. U need to draft on offensive changes, age, injury history, ect. Dez is young, terrible defense, contract year, pass happy offense...this is his year I think.
10. AJ Green. They changed the offense, but it might actually help him. Daulton used to throw recklessly to him...will prob still happen, but the improved running game might make more opportunities for him
11. M. Lynch lot of people dont like this year, i disagree. He only held out for a little...that offense is going to take a step this year....screw C. Michael, they arent at that stage where they take out Lynch for him pending injury. TD machine, could arguably take him around pick 5. Safe pick IMO
12. Brandon Marshal. Hes 30...injury history a little bit, is going to ball out again this year...put up similiar numbers to last year. safe pick IMO again. Offense should take a step again..Cutler looks great. The problem again is if he gets hurt, the backups arent there to fill his role. Id still take the chance however. At this turn
* Principles we're following in the first 2 rounds: You cant win ure league in the first 2 rounds, but u CAN lose ure league in the first 2 rounds
*QB in the first round? we off that. If u want that QB advantage, draft Peyton in the second. If u take him in the first, u're assuming hes producing the same numbers from last year...which its a long shot he comes close..he wont go over. He will prob still be the top QB, but value wise, u pass and draft later.
*We're not taking A foster in the first round...great value ofcourse, the injury history is too much. People dont realize, its not just his back...its his calf, his hamstring...it piles up...and the age...the position...its not a good look.
*We want the big reciever in the back of the first round with this scoring format
*this isnt anything crazy and new...but follow the principles of drafting safely in the beginning rounds, dont lose ure league right away, and work from there. Also, does your league trade a lot? If so, really consider just taking the best player available. Did someone fall that was supposed to be a top pick (aka, Jimmy Graham didnt get drafted in the first round)? draft him...figure it out later
If u have the luxury, really take the vibe of ure draft party....do they know what they are talking about? Are they following closely? Will they trade u a shytload for Peyton Manning? In this case, draft BPA, rape them in trades (Before the seasons starts and they realize it) and dominate
