MORROW, Ga. —

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is looking into a domestic disturbance that turned into a shootout.

Investigators said they got a call about a domestic disturbance just outside Morrow shortly before 6 p.m. Saturday. When Clayton County police arrived, the man shot at them, and they returned fire, wounding him. No officers were injured.

Police said Sunday the episode began at a Quik Trip convenience store and then moved across the street to Pars Cars.

Deborah Andrews, who works at the car lot, said, "I was ducking for my life."

She said the man came out of nowhere and started shooting at officers.

A woman, who asked not to be named, told WSB-TV (http://bit.ly/Ruwgqr ) that her daughter was meeting her ex-husband so he could return their 8-year-old daughter, and he started making alarming threats that resulted in the police call.

"He was talking crazy and threatening my daughter, and the police were listening in," she said.

She said the man told her daughter "he felt like killing somebody and she was the first one in line."

The man, whose name was not released, was taken to an Atlanta hospital for treatment.

Police did not disclose how many officers were involved, but Sgt. Kevin Hughes said several were placed on administrative leave pending a review by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
