"I'm very torn, I have to say. I was expecting more from him," Hershman said. "This is one where you listen to the fans. The fans voted by turning off the channel. At the end of the day we're a TV network and we have to please our subscribers. If they're not interested we have to respect that. In the right match maybe there will be another opportunity, but it's not something getting done in the near future. I have tremendous respect for what he does but it's not something our subscribers responded to."
Not surprised to be honest
Telemundo & ESPN here we come
It's Rigo's fault
Skillwise, I put him behind Floyd as the 2nd most talented boxer in the world. Problem is, he's so defensive that even though he can hit his opponent at will, he doesnt press the action to get them outta there.
He puts his opponent into a shell where they are scared to throw, because he has very good power and elite punching accuracy/counter punching, and with him being so defensive minded....a lull in the action occurs.
He's gonna have to open up more to become a more entertaining fighter to the "masses" OR learn some English and become a trash talker.
HBO cant put him on TV if he causes a drop in ratings, because it's bad for business. If he's not on TV, then his paychecks are gonna drop....regardless how much he wins and dominates. There is nothing TR can do, nothing HBO can do, it's all on him.
Him and trainer are gonna have to see what they wanna do, because unless he fights a fighter like Santa Cruz who comes forward regardless (wont ever happen though because the beef), he's destined for Chris John/K-Bros territory....and he's way too good for that.
