Now it's like nobody is impressed because every phone pretty much does every major thing that all the other ones do...and on top of that, EVERYBODY has one.

yeah and the only way to differentiate how much better your new phone is to get all nerdy and talk about tech specs. just needs LTE support is all.

It was never cool... Personally having the best phone has always been more important. I converted enough istans at work just from them watching me work with android at ease. Doing things they had to jailbreak to do... Technology is not meant to be bought based on cool points alone but functionality

That and the fact cell companies would put you on a 2 year plan for like $50 down on a phone that runs $500-600. Really took the prestige out of having a top flight blackberry/iphone I remember paying $500 cash for my Blackberry 9800 touchscreen unlocked, only to come back to the States a few weeks later and see everybody on that Blackberry sprint plan rockin' the same phone That's the last time I ever paid more than $100 for a phone. Big screens, high end phones, thin/bigscreen laptops, high end laptops, high end headphones, all lost their status symbol around 2008-2010.

The Arcadium is such a wasteland. I miss the tech talk on here, but i refuse to tread through garbage console wars and general gaming talk I couldn't care less about to find the few tech threads.

At the very least they should make tech a subforum of the Arcadium.

Regarding the thread, ya, no one is in awe of any smartphones these days. People still have the preferences and I see more iPhones than anything, personally, and people still make fun of phones they don't like, but no one over 16 is impressed cuz a person has a particular phone.
