Every time I’m in a Soul Food spot it’s nothing but Oldheads/ Middle Aged in there.
Do youngins just not fw Soul Food or you think it’s because they didn’t grow up on it like that?
I guess youngins fw the Wing Spots more (Asian/ Middle Eastern owned :mjpls:)
Y’all think this is because of recent culture ?
No more Candy Ladys..just Arab stores :mjpls:

i have noticed this, it mostly because millennials are on that health food wave and nobody has tried to put a healthy alternative twist to soul food yet. at not in mainstream way. Millennial's are waiting for that gluten free organic vegan friendly naturally sweetened peach cobbler.

Younger people like fast causual spots. Soul Food stops on avg havent adopted that business model. Usually they are real
Sit down spots or cafeteria style.

The soul food spots that have updated their business models or even introduced things like fusion cuisine are doing fine.

There are places like busy bees in ATL that should have expanded but they have not gotten with the times and are hanging on due to their history.

:yeshrug: I'm cool with it.

Soul Food is not traditionally healthy. I don't want to encourage people to eat bad food simply cuz your Grandma did it. Not to mention Soul Food ain't our food, its just nasty shyt they gave nikkas during slavery that we seasoned enough to make it work.

I'm certainly not going to encourage people to eat the fried guts of a pig. And most of the shyt we like from Soul Food either came from Africa or Europe (Fried chicken, mac and cheese)

Grandma is 42 and only know how to cook hotdogs and hotpockets. Maybe can get real fancy and whip up some mac and cheese for special occasions

but mama 27 and has never really cooked a day in her life beyond Pizza Rolls and frozen dinners.

They never had any experience with Soul Food (maybe grandma had a mother or aunt who knew how to throw down in the kitchen :manny:) so why would these new kids have any idea what is unless great grandma is in the picture. Then they prob complain that there's no brown rice or that the juice from the collard greens got on their bbq rib
