no one's protesting the government invading personal liberty, snooping on you, breaking laws to pin shyt on you. No angry mob, no rioting, it's like people are compltely oblivious to it.

But say one thing about gay people and gay rights, and you have the whole world after you. Perfect example, Russia's stance on gay people. Everyone around the world is boycotting and pressuring the Russian government to change it's policy. Where's the same mob crying against the US government?

It's funny how backwards we've become as a society.

YES.

The thing is that Democrats & Republicans participate in robbing you of your personal rights and freedoms, so they're not treated as "important" issues that the media can sensationalize. BUT issues like gay marriage can be sensationalized because homosexuality is rampant in places like Hollywood and in the elite New York circles.

So, the thing that is actually important, personal rights and freedoms, and not having a government that spies on you and corporations that poison you is ignored so we can talk about this sensationalized issue of gay marriage.

The problem is too that since Hollywood makes so much money and gives so much to parties, especially Democrats, their issues take precident over shyt like Detroit going bankrupt.

Hell we saw Black folks civil rights being threatened with HUGE parts of the Voting Rights Act cut down the day AFTER DOMA was overturned and NOBODY said shyt, really.

They don't care about us having the right to vote, even though its GUARANTEED IN THE CONSTITUTION, but gay marriage (or marriage period), which is nowhere in the constitution is treated as the important Civil Rights issue.

Gay rights (whatever side you take) is been taking attention over the bills the government passes on your civil liberties. It's sickening how these politicians only further their own goals instead of helping people

What does one have to do with the other?

Sure, you can talk about the conversation being changed, but just because you can't just kill gay people doesn't mean government surveillance is any less important.

Plus, once you realize that CNN has NO obligation to talk about anything in your benefit, you'll be better off in life.

No.

Gay rights ARE important.

they're no less important if no one is talking about them.

You might have an argument if you wanted to say "well thats not what we should be talking about"...but to say that the rights of other citizens isn't important is equally fallacious.

i dont know anything about gay rights or whatever comparisons you are trying to make, because its really a more of a media and civil rights issue

but it is pretty shocking to see a very minor outrage against the whole NSA thing, especially in other countries. nikkas basically agreed to spying on germany, etc, you would think people would have a stronger reaction abroad

Never said they weren't important, just not MOST important or even close to being as important as it is being made out to be by a media with an agenda.

It's treated as if it's more important than the wars, The Bill of Rights, drone strikes, and a TON of other shyt that kills people or will kill this country.

That's what happens though when you let special interest groups gain too much power. All these groups really care about are their issues and will gladly subvert the issues of other groups to promote their agendas. Now that goes for whomever, not just the gays...but right now they're the prime example of how much power and influence a group will seize as you're sitting around trying to sound PC and progressive.

By the way, when I say gays as a special interest group I'm not talking about all gay people, just those who are influencing the media to promote their agendas. Most of you know that, but folks are crazy sensitive about this type of stuff and are halfway looking for an argument over word choice.

It's crazy though, that in the era of "yes we can" the only people that seem to be coming up are homosexuals. Good for them, but can we get something else going on? Student loans rising, cost of living is insane, privacy being invaded, racism at a generational peak...but at least one group of people are happy.
