I just watched nope and while it was ok I think it pushed peele out of the “I have to watch anything he put outs” category, even though I believe if this was released before “us” he would still be in it. So it made me think. Peele had it, what other directors had so much hype they could announce a movie and only it’s tittle and and have sold out shows day one. I think peele, Spielberg, Spike Lee in his prime and M night Shyamalan before folks started hating him. What y’all think?
Has there ever been a director who had the hype or clout tor release a film without a trailer or any info but the title and it still be a hit.

The question is has there been so much hype and goodwill behind a director that he could announce he’s putting out a movie, just give the tittle without out any other information, no trailer, not say who the actors are, nothing about what it’s about, etc and it still be a box office success. I felt like peele, spike Lee, Spielberg and M night Shyamalan are the only ones in history that could.
James Cameron could throw the deuces up in a trailer spot and still sell the house out.

Nah I think it can be done but it's gotta be a combo of director and lead actor announcement. Like for example if they announced shyt like Scorcese/Denzel, Spielberg/Tom Cruise, Tarantino/Will Smith, etc. Never before seen combos basically.

Get out was really his only race based film, the other two just were “horror” movies with black people in them. I think his hype has cooled to much now, but I believe if this third movie had of been released like this and maybe said there were. A-listers in it, it would have blew up. People would be expecting something never seen before, the novelty of it would be to much for it not to succeed .
