It was trying too hard honestly. This is what happens when you move your social media manager to a position in the marketing department.

There are companies who do weird and do it right. Skittles comes to mind. They have both weird campaigns and a great, kinda weird social media presence. It works for them.

Denny's has a great social media presence that's also kind of weird but their commercials are traditional because some of that shyt doesn't play if you don't know what you're doing.

I think some of these companies don't give a fukk about making commercials that are actually funny, have a catchy jingle, or is otherwise good/memorable

I think now they just wanna make "weird for the sake of being weird" commercials that the internet will talk about on some "WTF" shyt

The thing is.....there's a right way and a wrong way to do that shyt.....

Personally....I think Ragu did it the right way with this one
