Long story short. I got my Masters last year. Been hard finding a job in my field but I have an interview on Friday. I'm 99% NOT going to take if they offer because it's just an 11 month contract job. I have a guaranteed salary (I'm in the union), benefits, etc. at my current job. But from my understanding (I could be wrong) contract jobs don't do that. But I'm just curious if anybody ever took a job for experience like that?

Yeah I left a semi decent job with benefits for a part time contract job at a hospital no benefits. However after 6 months I was able to apply for another job internally and got it so it worked out for me.

You need to ask. Sometimes contract roles are still W2 thru an agency that can offer insurance.

Is the contract through a firm or direct with the business (1099 or W2)
Yeah, not sure. It's a charter school.

I did it last year and the experience I gained from it helped me land my current gig which is a full time permenant role that pays 20k more than I was making at the temp job. The temp job was initially a 6 month contract but they extended it and kept me a year. I learned a lot in that time so I'd say go for it.
