I was legit kinda embarrassed playing through Granblue Fantasy Relink story mode with all the chibi characters & rehashed, baby's-first-anime cliches. I think i'm getting too old for this type of shyt now :snoop: I'm getting kind of a similar feeling with Tales of Arise and find myself zoning out during cinematics :flabbynsick: combat is fye tho

Not even in how it looks, but how it leads us and talks us through every damn answer :martin:

Lmao yeah it’s hard being a JRPG fan at times. Sometimes you wanna recapture that magic of feeling like you were 12 enjoying your favorite games, but with shyt like Arise you need a traumatic brain injury to survive the dialogue.

Every now and then I go through a kick and need to play a JRPG. I go searching through PS+ or GP. I have reinstalled and started up Tales of Arise probably like 4 different times over the last couple years because I forget the specific names of the games in that series. I already played and suffered through like 10 hours of it shortly after it released, but it’s just such generic shyt that I don’t realize the mistake until I’m already installed and playing. Then I see that goofy fukk in the iron mask, I remember everything I endured in the past, and I go “….oh Christ, it’s THIS piece of shyt.” And uninstall it

Child of Light is an example of a great children's game done right. The aesthetics are clearly for children but the gameplay is deep enough and story well written to where you don't feel too silly playing it as an adult.

All them goofy ass Dragon Quest/Tales Of YourMom type games are straight bushes status for me though :camby: they are annoyingly childish with severely overacting voices/animations and I just simply can't deal.

Pokemon, child of light, Zelda are examples of games for kids that don't make you feel like a complete loser for playing them. If the game is done right it doesn't matter what the target audience is because it will transcend demographics

That because alot JRPG take there inspiration from shonen manga which is aim at boys who are about 12-18 years old.
