EXCLUSIVE: Halle Berry‘s 606 Films has sold the first project under its first-look deal at CBS TV Studios, teaming with House executive producer Katie Jacobs for another medical drama with a unorthodox protagonist. The untitled project, written by Larry Kaplow, centers on an enigmatic surgeon who imprisons himself in a state-of-the-art private hospital on the grounds of a prison. Kaplow, Berry, her producing partner Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas and Jacobs executive produce for 606 Films andCBS TV Studios. 606 Films’ first-look deal at CBS TV Studios stems from Berry’s starring role in the studio’s drama series Extant, which will wrap its summer run next week.
On the feature side, 606 has the Lotus Entertainment thriller Kidnap, which stars Berry and will be directed by Luis Prieto from a script by Knate Gwaltney. Relativityjust picked up U.S. distribution rights to the film, which begins this fall. CAA-repped Berry and Goldsmith-Thomas executive produce for di Boneventura Pictures’ Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Erik Howsam.

The network also has an adaptation of the South Korean medical drama Good Doctorwith Daniel Dae Kim producing as well as Austen’s Razor, centered on a character inspired by Arthur L. Caplan, an authority on bioethics, which has a production commitment. Fox’s The Cure, from New Yorker writer Malcolm Gladwell andMedium creator Glenn Gordon Caron and ABC’s medical advocate drama project fromDavid Marshall Grant, Sheldon Turner and Jennifer Klein also have put pilot commitments. ABC also has a drama from Amy Holden Jones with a significant penalty, and Cold Blood, from Janine Sherman Barrois and Aaron Kaplan; while NBC has Critical, from Eva Longoria, John Glenn and Katie Lovejoy.
