Christmas is getting closer and this year I’m gonna celebrate it here in Sweden with my family. Christmas eve (in Sweden we celebrate on the 24th) has always been a holiday I have mixed feelings about. I love Christmas and I think everything about it is cozy, but when I was a kid we had too many Christmas Eves with fights, disappointment and drunkenness and it’s something I can’t really forget.
I know a lot of parents read my blog so that’s why I want to strike a blow for a white Christmas. The Christmas belongs to the children, it should be filled with love and feelings of being safe. Alcohol and being drunk does not belong there. I read somewhere that every 10th child is worried about Christmas and it shouldn’t be that way. I myself have once been one of those kids and I remember how jelaous I was of my friends who had fantastic Christmases. And in our house? Well me and my siblings got old VHS movies wrapped in dirty newspaper from our dad (but we didn’t care then, at least he was there!!) who always came several hours late. I didn’t give so much thought in it then, I thought he might have had something more important to do. Later that night he attacked my sister both verbally and physically. Merry Christmas.

It’s a horrible feeling when you believe that the liquor is more important to your parent then you are, so put away the liquor and make the children feel safe and loved. That’s something every kid wants for Christmas.
