guys, monitors are on super sale at guitar center... are the Yamaha HS8's worth $200 more than JBL?

anyone have experience with these? i was trying to go for the 8's because i didnt want a sub and it sounds so clean. the sale is 289 for yamaha 8s and the JBL is buy one at 250 get the second monitor half off.... thats $375 for JBL monitor 8s and around $580 for the yamaha 8's...

also... do i need 8s? not really, do i WANT 8s? yes... anybody make it work with 5s or 6s and want to call me crazy? i just mix for a hobby with a reasonable size room... i want the yamahas they sound so great but i just... don't know if its worth the extra at the moment especially considering the fukking JBL deal

Go for the 8s bro. Some of the most balanced and transliting home speakers I have heard. I cant tell you why that is, as they arent the flattest but theres a quality about them that makes mixes translate so much better off rip. You can learn any speakers, so if saving 200 bucks warrants learning your speakers a few months to get things right. Versus the immediate improvement with the 8s, then go for it

But itd be HS-80s no doubt for me
