Go to our gun thread and see the guns I have posted

Buy a glock 22.... it's a 40 cal ,but u can convert it to 357 sig ( expensive bullets) and 9mm
Thanks but I don't want to alter my gun at all. I had a couple 40's once not really concerned about bullet cost either because I'm not going to be playing around with this gun. This gun is being purchased specifically for life and death emergencies.

If that's the case still buy a 40 caliber regardless

But considered Buying a glock 23, glock 19 , glock 22, or Glock 27.... Best self defense guns IMO

I never had any failures

If u get a revolver make sure it's a ruger...
Why the 40 over the 357?

Are you planning on carrying or is this strictly for home defense? 12ga shotty is the best all around do-it-all weapon. For handguns, it boils down to what you shoot best. Springfields and glocks have the best selection of polymer pistols but the MP Shield is a solid choice too. Just make sure to get some good hollow points, Speer Gold Dots or Winchester Ranger T's would be my recommendation. Even 9mm hollows are a potent pill these days as bullet technology has come a long way in the last couple decades. Hardball ammo is a shytty choice for self defense.

For Car and Home.
This is really for worst case scenario I'm out somewhere and for some reason a dude is bucking at me.

Basically I want to be able to return fire if fired upon.

Go with what @Babyshaq73 recommended and go to a range that rents out various models. A handgun is definitely something that you want to try before you buy. I would recommend a 9mm model with some high quality hollow points. 9mm recoil is way easier to manage and you'll be more likely to land your follow up shots in a high stress situation. I'd also recommend something with at least a 4" barrel for better accuracy and more reliable bullet expansion. I really like my friend's Springfield 9mm sub compact but again, it's really going to boil down to what you shoot best.

This.

You like Springfield though? I've had issues with the XD's in the past.

Really? I know the xds models had a couple issues on their first run and the .45's not feeding wadcutters reliably, but I haven't heard of any other of their models having any issues.

I had issues with the mag springs, had problems with firing on the 6th or 7th round. Just went right back to Glock and got a G17.

What model? My .45 Compact and my friend's 9mm sub have been flawless. I'm into rifles more than handguns but I'd like to get a glock someday just because I think every gun owner should have at least one glock lol. I shoot them really well, they're just not as comfortable to me as springfields.
