GTA 5 still the best world in open world games ever and it debuted on a PS3, just got a new version on a PS5, and still prints money online in 2024.... That's why
This narrative needs to stop lmao. The game hasnt been "in development" for 10 years.
They didn't even have PS5 dev kits 10 years ago.
At best, they've had a concepts, or ideas for that amount of time. Not actual work done on the game.
They made a full blown game, called RDR 2, in 2018. Just 5 years after GTA 5. As well as countless updates to GTA5 online.
Most studios didnt get actual PS5 dev kits until like 2018, so at best, full production on this started in 2019 the earliest.
Then you add covid. Mf's working from home, studio closures, delays on development.
This has been in actual development for 5 years at best.
Thats the same amount of time it took for God of War 2018, and essentially every other AAA game inexistence. And this game is going to be MUCH bigger in scope, scale and ambition than all of them.
The 10 years trope is a myth started by people who think they just randomly started working on this in 2014, when the PS4 was literally only a year old.

I think he and others are talking about the time between GTA5 release and today... Not that they had a game to work on for 10 years... But you dropped a game in 2013 and we don't have a sequel in 2024, people gonna say "Damn it's taken them 10 years to make a sequel"

Or just remade San Andreas or GTA 3 to keep fans occupied. Not everybody played or cared to play GTA online. I didn't.

That's why Rockstar should of gotten pc modders to remaster all the old GTA games
They would of done a better job then Grove Street games since they actually enhanced the games

We all know its coming a year after console release...
This is an intentional nickel and dime practice to make PC players who also own a console double dip aka purchase the game twice...
