As soon as Nas wasn’t on it, I knew it would just be rappers that are internationally famous.

My guesses after that revelation would’ve been: Eminem, Snoop, 2Pac, Biggie, Dr. Dre, Eazy E, Jay, 50 Cent.

I know LL has gained fame from acting, but was still surprised to see him in there over say Eazy/Cube/DMX for example

LL literally coined the term GOAT/Greatest Of All Time. Him being on that list just makes sense. He was the first superstar platinum selling solo rapper. The #1 heartthrob rapper of the 80's. And as big as Party UP was in mainstream, Mama Said Knock You Out was big in mainstream first and charted higher on Billboard than Party UP.

I agree, but seeing him on this particular list was still surprising.

I think the 3 I named (Eazy E, Ice Cube, DMX) are more prominent in the middle aged dad/European consciousness of “real hardcore hip-hop”

I also factor in that Cube is bigger in acting than LL, and that DMX was more of a imitatable real life character than him.

Evidently, LL made the list so I wrong
