Here are some of the great Kingdoms in Africa that we don't learn about in school:
1. The Malian Empire was home to the richest man of all time (no exaggeration) Mansa Musa who had so much gold he crashed Cairo's market. But did you also know it was the second largest empire during its time behind the Mongol Empire?
2. The Great Mosque of DJenne, it's not a kingdom but it is a great architectural site built entirely out of adobe. It is also now a World Heritage Site.
3. The Great Zimbabwe, although it's nothing but ruins now, the intricacy of the stone walls still baffle archaeologist to this day about how these people were able to build such high walls without melding them together. (Of course because their black Africans).
4. The Walls of Benin were built around 800 AD to about the 1400s, it is regarded as the world's largest man-made structure (lenthwise) and the largest earthwork in the world.
Are there any great African Kingdoms/African achievements that we need to know?
