Government-sponsored study destroys DEA’s classification of marijuana | The Raw Story

“The classification of marijuana as a Schedule I drug as well as the continuing controversy as to whether or not cannabis is of medical value are obstacles to medical progress in this area,” they wrote. “Based on evidence currently available the Schedule I classification is not tenable; it is not accurate that cannabis has no medical value, or that information on safety is lacking. It is true cannabis has some abuse potential, but its profile more closely resembles drugs in Schedule III (where codeine and dronabinol are listed). The continuing conflict between scientific evidence and political ideology will hopefully be reconciled in a judicious manner.”

the way marijuana is treated by the American legal system is madness.
i hope i live to see the day that it is treated like alcohol.
this whole "war on drugs" is a sick joke.

I hope I live to see the day where I can grow or ingest whatever fukking plant I want without the government getting sand in their clit over it.

Look on the bright side...at least it's not Japan.

As correct as that conclusion is, this study will change nothing.

Weed can't be regulated. Anybody can grow it. That's the main reason the feds don't bother legalizing it. Even with a medical strain that could be purchased over the counter, peeps would still get money selling the more high powered stuff.

As it is right now, even with the billions they spend 'fighting' it, they still get exponentially more trafficking prisoners through the system basically getting free labor. They just gave my brother time for smoking a joint in public, and set his bond at 40k. So he would have had to come up with 4 grand just to get out if the punk ass DA had decided to move forward.

My brother has a medical marijuana card but they have some bullsh*t laws on the books where they can overlook that if the pigs decide you were in possession with 'intent to distribute'. The only thing that saved him is the ridiculous overcrowding in the jails out here, and they let him go after the cop didn't show up for his court date.

:smh:
