I don't post that much on this site but if you check my posting history you would see I got a 335i coupe a few years ago. Sadly this past November I totaled it. My 335i was automatic so I decided to buy a beater for two reasons. One, learn how to drive manual and two, have something to drive to work. This solved two more problems. Hiding my money from coworkers and keep miles off the nicer car. I picked up a 2001 Passat 5 speed wagon for $2100 cash with 103k miles. Anyway moving forward I had been researching the Cayman for months. I knew what my budget was, but it left me with a choice. Go with a 987.1 S model(2006-2008) or go with a 987.2 base model(2009-2012). I ended up going with the 987.2 base. Most of the forums say the 987.2 base feels almost as fast as the 987.1 S model but you get a way better engine. Porsche switched up the engines in 2009 for the 911, Cayman, and Boxster platform. They are way more solid. It has 40% less parts. It is called the 9A1 engine and is way better than the previous M97 engine. I finally saw an amazing deal last week. I got the dealer to drive the car to an independent Porsche specialist of my choosing for a PPI(pre purchase inspection) and he said the car has been babied. I flew down to Orlando and drove it back to Maryland. Amazing drive. The car is raw as hell with the engine literally inches from your head behind you. I thought the hype about flat 6 engines was a joke.... It isn't. It is sick. It sounds so distinct. I found myself driving without music sometimes just to hear those high rpms.
Anyway here are the pics below.
Yeah that's me driving. I mounted a go pro to document my trip back up.
It's funny how some people don't understand the concept of depreciation and used cars. People looking all amazed at my car when it really cost the same as their brand new Toyota Camry LOL. Oh well. I had a girl in Georgia randomly walk up asking for a picture with my car LMAO. I had cats checking it out at gas stations. It's hilarious to me.
I know some of ya'll are gonna say why not the 911. It's simple, I wanted a mid engine platform. I also wanted to throw in the clear engine cover and get this.
A couple of different companies make clear engine covers. I am definitely getting one.
Anyway.. Mods coming soon. I got numeric racing shifter cables coming first(stock ones can break), and then suspension work and wheels next.
