You could make way more off of dividends alone from certain stocks. But it’s a lot of money, I can understand why you’d be wary.

For example, if you had that money tied up in JNJ, you could be racking up 4K a year off dividends (they hand out around $.92 per shares depending on the quarter). And that’s not taking into account if the stock is up or down. Plus, the market follows inflation, whereas having your money sit in a bank does not.
