Google sets its sights on the iPhone with HTC deal

Google is going to war against the iPhone.

It sounds preposterous given the number and quality of apps that Google produces for Apple’s iOS ecosystem, but the iPhone is a direct threat and counter to Google’s overarching goal of being ubiquitous on every internet-connected device. Apple’s voice assistant Siri searches the web using Bing rather than Google, and Apple Maps was created explicitly to shake off Apple’s dependence on Google Maps.

Google isn't competing with Apple with phones.

And the last company to buy is HTC, they have terrible screens.

Hardware isn't catchy enough and sense is boring.

Apple wins off perception and HTC doesn't really have much since the Goat m8.

M10 was bad ass to me but wasn't marketed properly.

HTC hardware is great, military designed phones just not flashy enough.

I'm starting to believe that Google isn't competing with Apple to take over the market.
They are just ensuring that they have a percentage of the market.

Clearly they just care about their OS and it's been working out. I used to hate android now I can't imagine being without it

HTC must have some good assets that Google wants to get a hold of because to me their design team hasn't been the same. They were top notch iirc from like 2006 to 2014. That HTC one series was piff...

Who's going to design HTC phones now?

Hopefully they bring back dual front facing speaker. This era of bezel less phone needs to end now. It's getting ridiculous.
