Promoter Tom Loeffler of K2 Promotions, who handle IBO/WBA middleweight champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (33-0, 30 KOs), says a fight can certainly be worked out with WBA super middleweight king Andre Ward (28-0, 15 KOs).

But the deal would have to be under Golovkin's terms and not dictated by Ward. Loeffler feels Golovkin has surpassed Ward as a ticket seller and in terms of name recognition - making GGG the A-side of the negotiations.

Loeffler is not under the impression that Ward is ready to negotiate the fight, stating that the Olympic gold medal winner is likely looking to have a few more tune-ups. Ward returned last month after being away from the since November of 2013. In his return, he dominated and stopped overmatched Paul Smith at a catch-weight of 172-pounds.

Golovkin is trying to get fights with a variety of opponents, without success. He won't be facing IBF champion David Lemieux this year and Carl Froch appears to have lost interest in fighting him.

The Ward fight is there, although it's unlikely Ward will agree to a weight of 164 and a 50-50 split.

“GGG is now clearly the ‘A’ side yet Ward still would want to dictate terms, which makes no sense,” Loeffler said to ESPN. “GGG would fight Ward on a 50-50 basis, the best 160-pounder versus the best 168-pounder [at] 164 [and] a 50-50 split on all proceeds. But it seems like Ward needs more tuneup fights.”

and ggg said he would fight anybody from 154 to 168
If it was lucrative he would fight at 168... How is fighting ward at 168 lucrative?

Years ago ward said he would fight anyone from 168-175, kovalev is willing to fight him, why not ward move up and fight him?

Ward said he was not going to 160 to fight ggg, ggg said he's not going to 168 to fight ward... So meeting in the middle is very fair IMHO.
