Don't know if it's been mentioned in here or not, but kaiju fans should definitely check out the Gamera trilogy from the mid nineties. The trilogy is out on blu-ray and shouldn't be to hard to find. Being a Godzilla fan, I can say that the Gamera trilogy (which as directed by the same person that did GMK) was better than the Heisei era and Millennium era Godzilla films.

The whole concept of Godzilla is dated :manny:

It's almost 2014, you mean to tell me they can't create a new Monster? Instead of getting a Cloverfield sequel we have to endure yet another Godzilla movie :snoop: The story will no doubt be corny and campy while you fan boys and others like you will busts nuts to the CGI and loud crashes and explosions. You all fall for the bullshyt every time.

Gonna look at the OG film tonight. This thread got me looking into it.
Hulu, watch the 54 version 'gojira' with the English subtitles

People talk all this shyt about Cloverfield, when 97 godzilla should have been at the epic level of Cloverfield

But gamera films in the 90's were ok
But it's a giant fukking turtle come on

Yea, I got the OG Japanese one.

I actually liked that '97 Godzilla, at the time. I haven't seen it since then.

GINO is the only Godzilla movie I refuse to own. I need it for my collection, but can't get myself to pull the trigger.

The Hesiei era Gamera trilogy is how the Hesiei Godzilla movies should've been. Plus, even though they had smaller budgets they had way better special effects.

This movie looks to be that Godzilla film I've been waiting for.
I read that Monster Island could be used for the sequel :blessed:

I grew up watching Godzilla movies. I remember going to the video store picking out the next one I wanted to watch. It was great. This trailer/movie looks promising. Once I saw the scales, it just felt right. :ohlawd:

I liked Pacific Rim because they played homage to Godzilla even though it wasn't that type of movie. It was more human focused. The scene toward the end, where the Kajiu hit land and when he sprouted his wings, you could here the classic monster movie/godzilla background music being played. Even though it was more of an action flick, they still managed to play homage.

I liked Cloverfield because the idea was new and refreshing. The viral marketing was dope with the slush-o and 1-18-08 date. The monster was different with a unique design. I liked how they portrayed the events with the camcorder. Everyone thought that it was the rumored Godzilla reboot.

I'm ready for this movie man. I haven't been this hype in a while. Its like my childhood coming back full circle. (The 98 movie doesn't count)
