GM Suspends Production At North American Plants Amid Ongoing Chip Shortages

The halt in production will affect many of the automaker's most profitable vehicles, including the Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra. "During the downtime, we will repair and ship unfinished vehicles from many impacted plants, including Fort Wayne and Silao, to dealers to help meet the strong customer demand for our products," a spokesperson for GM told the Detroit Free Press. "Although the situation remains complex and very fluid, we remain confident in our team's ability to continue finding creative solutions to minimize the impact on our highest-demand and capacity-constrained vehicles."

I been off work since the end of July. They just extended it another two weeks. I don't see us going back any time soon. We just got enough chips to flash the cars that have been sitting. I don't see us having nowhere near enough for full scale production.
Which model line(s) do you work on

What do you do?
I'm an ARM on the door line. I fill in on teams that are short on manpower. The area I work in puts in the components on the doors like the wire harness, mirrors, speakers, windows, trim, speakers etc. It was pretty cool for awhile because I'd work on different teams every day or every couple of days to break the monotony, but it gets old when you're stuck on teams for weeks or months at a time. I put in for a different area right before we went out, so I probably have to reapply when go back.
