Besides being a relatively intelligent man, what gave him an entry into the talking head circles?

specifically, why is he included on the Black issues segments and discussions..or even in general political discussions.....he holds a phd in linguistics

The same logic applies when they select these Black talking heads to "speak for Black people" on tv.

Just looked it up and at least Sowell's doctorate was in Economics. McWhorter is a linguist ?!?1?

Thomas Sowell is an economist.
He typically speaks from an economics point of view on black american strategies.
He has never claimed he speaks for all black americans, so stop with the liberal black circle jerking.

I'm the one who used the phrase "when they select the Black talking heads to "speak for Black" on tv.

A person who is an economist can surely offer informed opinion about the state of Black people in America. I conceded as much in my last post.
I laughed at a linguist being included on any such public panel..much less on tv.

I'm also laughing at these Black talking heads basically put on tv to give "the Black perspective"..when they almost NEVER EVER are put on panels specific to their concentrations of study. I grew up watching pbs and network tv panel shows and never ever ever ever saw Sowell in the economics shows or segments. Saw him on the Black topics though.(They never let poor Rudolph play any reindeer games)

Actually surprised to learn that his concentration is economics.Left,Right,Center....it's comical to me how these types of shows are presented....who they select to be on these shows. In the words of Malcolm X.."they are professional Negroes...that is being a Negro is their profession"

You can look at some local illinois public access and some national PBS shows to see Sowell brought in to talk about economics on a panel.
As for Mcwhorter I get your point, and hell I get your point overall.
