"Kid Chocolate" Peter Quillin vacated his middleweight world title and kissed a career-high $1.4 million purse goodbye on Thursday.

I know it's been discussed some in the main thread, but it's time to talk about Al Haymon and Quillin. This has officially gone too far. Haymon just had one of his fighters give up his belt, his biggest payday, and an opportunity to try things out with a new promotional company, because Al Haymon didn't like the situation.

I wonder if this is just Peter Quillin being a big p*ssy, Haymon just controlling his boxers like a pimp does, or both.

As a boxing fan I'd rather see Quillin vs Jacobs...so if that's the fight thats made like rumored

I think quillin might be mega-shook but Haymon definitely has a large part in it. Like @patscorpio said you have to wonder what the end game is. Kid Chocolate's a moron though, the odds of him getting another belt. these boxers man

I have formulated an Al Haymon conspiracy theory.

Haymon was all for putting his fighters in big fights during 2012/2013 when Oscar was all coked out and Schaeffer was running GBP because the mission was to get that new wave of fighters (Broner, Garcia and the like) some shine. With the younger dudes being established as new legit stars in boxing the next step was to push Oscar out of GBP and for Schaeffer/Haymon to continue their collaboration in promoting.
When Oscar got clean and decided he was going to not only keep his company but get rid of people he considered to not be on his side by jettisoning Schaeffer and all those loyal to him, the new agenda started.

Now the plan is for Schaeffer/Haymon to reunite under the Mayweather Promotion banner but until that can be done (the hold up is the litigation between Oscar and Schaeffer) Al is making sure that his top fighters will not be having any major bouts under the GBP promotional banner (or any other promotion as evidenced by the Quillin stuff) and he won't risk any of them being in a bout where they will take a loss either.

So Al Haymon is basically holding boxing hostage until he, Schaeffer and Mayweather can officially team up.

Korobov last fought on HBO. What I would like to see is Korobov win that belt Quillin just gave up...it was the 3rd most important IMO, as Cotto has the lineal, and GGG's is 2nd as he has looked the most impressive and fought better competition at 160.
Get Korobov to win against the mandatory and then make the GGG fight so he can get a top 10 fighter and put 2 of the 3 major belts together. Cotto's 3rd belt is, either with him or Canelo would still have HBO ties. Time for #GGGoodBoys to consolidate this division.
