Hmmm, this isn't the exact situation...but this kinda happened to Will in I,Robot (For obvious, racial reasons I might add). It's clear that he and Bridget Moynahan are supposed to be together in this movie, ANY other racial pair and they would have been...but for *some reason*, he ends up being a loveless character, one of the few times I've EVER seen a blockbuster film without a love story in it.
