Former mixed martial arts fighter turned actress Gina Carano (FAST AND FURIOUS 6) has signed on to join the cast of KICKBOXER, the John Stockwell-directed remake of the Jean-Claude Van Damme film.
Carano will be playing a fight promoter in the reboot. The film marks a reunion between Carano and Stockwell. Carano had starred in the Stockwell-directed IN THE BLOOD, released last year. Carano joins a prolific cast that includes Dave Bautista, Georges St. Pierre, Darren Shahlavi, Sara Malakul Lane, T.J. Storm, Sam Medina, Matthew Ziff, Jean-Claude Van Damme, and in his lead role debut, martial artist and stunt performer Alain Moussi.
The film is currently in production in New Orleans, but will be moving to Bangkok to complete filming. KICKBOXER is set for a 2015 release.
