DALLAS - The 87th Miss Texas 2024 was crowned on Saturday night.

Annette Addo-Yobo, born in Ghana, is the first immigrant-born Miss Texas. She obtained U.S. citizenship in 2022, making her a triple citizen.

She is an advocate for autism awareness and safety through her platform called the SPARK Project. This project focuses on autism safety, awareness, and education.

Addo-yobo said in an Instagram post that as a sibling to someone on the spectrum, she noticed the systemic inequalities and lack of education and training.

"It is my mission to amplify the voices of the autistic community and ensure that legislators, decision-makers, and community members see us and fight for us," Addo-yobo wrote.
