Oleg Hermann, manager of WBA/IBO/WBC-interim middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (31-0, 28KOs), is hoping his fighter lands an HBO Pay-Per-View main event in 2015. The three targets are Miguel Cotto, Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Golovkin is the mandatory challenger to Cotto's title, but the Puerto Rican star is likely going to face Canelo in the first half of 2015.
Golovkin return on February 21 in Monaco against Martin Murray. Hermann says a second potential return date would fall on May 16th. If they are unable to secure the three pay-per-view names, Hermann would like Golovkin to take part in a unification against the winner of Andy Lee and Matt Korobov, who battle for the vacant WBO middleweight title on December 13 in Las Vegas.
"In 2015, we aim to make a big pay-per-view fight against Miguel Cotto, Saul "Canelo" Alvarez or Chavez Jr. If the Cotto-Canelo fight is held in May 2015, as scheduled, in the autumn the winner will box with Gennady. As for the immediate plans, the next date on HBO listed for us [after February is] the 16th of May. We want to make a fight against the winner of the battle between Matvey Korobov and Andy Lee, who fight for the WBO world title," Hermann said.
