Golovkin's Manager Eyes Korobov-Lee Winner in 2015

Oleg Hermann, manager of WBA/IBO/WBC-interim middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (31-0, 28KOs), is hoping his fighter lands an HBO Pay-Per-View main event in 2015. The three targets are Miguel Cotto, Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Golovkin is the mandatory challenger to Cotto's title, but the Puerto Rican star is likely going to face Canelo in the first half of 2015.

Golovkin return on February 21 in Monaco against Martin Murray. Hermann says a second potential return date would fall on May 16th. If they are unable to secure the three pay-per-view names, Hermann would like Golovkin to take part in a unification against the winner of Andy Lee and Matt Korobov, who battle for the vacant WBO middleweight title on December 13 in Las Vegas.

"In 2015, we aim to make a big pay-per-view fight against Miguel Cotto, Saul "Canelo" Alvarez or Chavez Jr. If the Cotto-Canelo fight is held in May 2015, as scheduled, in the autumn the winner will box with Gennady. As for the immediate plans, the next date on HBO listed for us [after February is] the 16th of May. We want to make a fight against the winner of the battle between Matvey Korobov and Andy Lee, who fight for the WBO world title," Hermann said.

GGG is trying to get a stranglehold on the WBA, WBO Championship at 160 until the WBC Champion is willing to fight him:ohhh:

I kinda respect that mentality brehs:lupe:

What about Jermaine Taylor though? I dont think he wants to fight GGG either brehs...and he shouldnt:to:

I call ducktales. GGG will be fighting Lee. At first it was everybody ducking, now it's if we can't get them blah balh blah...

Now Chavez is with Haymon and the fight can be made. Cotto would fight him as well but I know HBO gonna say he's ducking even though he is in talks to fight Canelo.

Andre Ward is free to fight. Guess he's ducking too. I m growing sick and tired of GGG :camby:

The Canelo-Cotto fight is obviously the big one for next year. Still think Canelo is more likely to fight GGG than Cotto. Either way GGG has made himself the mandatory and the winner would have to avoid GGG to not make the fight.

The Chavez fight is looking less likely. Froch is pushing hard for that fight and JCC can make much more vs. Froch. Plus, JCC might have additional difficulties depending on what he owes Arum, and if Arum-Haymon get in a legal battle. The hopes for GGG-JCC are slim to none IMO.

In a Dan Rafael past mailbag (after Taylor's recent win) someone asked about Taylor fighting GGG. Dan said DiBella would absolutely not allow Taylor to fight GGG.

Let's not get started on Ward. His stans want to bring him up every time a GGG fight is mentioned. If GGG is ducking Ward so hard, than Ward should schedule a fight with another fighter. Oh wait, he's been inactive for over a year.

I think we are destined for GGG not being able to land a super big fight for a bit longer. Murray and the winner of Korobov-Lee is still good competition and solid opponents for a resume. Top 10 guys at 160. Think Korobov is a better name than Lee.

I do as well. I think HBO wants GGG-Korobov to happen. At least that is was Dan Rafael implied when he said they were going to invest some money into Korobov and David Lemieux to be future GGG opponents.
Not superfights or career defining fights, but both Korobov and Lemieux would be entertaining matchups.
