Gotdamn, talk about cold-blooded. My boy got dumped by his long-term girlfriend through a text message on his birthday last week. They dated for over a year and it was pretty serious.

He has been wanting to break up with her for a while now but he couldn't pull the trigger (he was afraid of being the bad guy). I made this thread about him in June: http://www.thecoli.com/threads/feeling-trapped-in-a-relationship.124981/

I'm just amazed at how fast this chick went from being obsessively in love with him to breaking up via text message. They dated for over a year and she was crazy about him! Just last month they had a long talk about their relationship where they put everything on the table, and they seemed to get along much better.

The only thing that changed since then, besides her agreeing to be less sensitive, was that he agreed to express himself more with her and open up emotionally. I'm starting to think that that may have lead to the break-up. He has been stressed a lot about work and possibly going to law school so he would vent to her more often in order to cope.

Could him expressing himself about his problems turn her off that much? Or was he sharing that girl all along?

Forgot to mention the fact that he's handling it well, which makes sense. He was looking for a way out and he didn't have to end it himself. He took the coward's way out, but he's still out. This shyt was just so unexpected.

He wasn't hurt but he admitted that he was surprised. However, he knows he's free and hopefully he knows not to go back.

Did she give him a reason at least? Did she explain why she wanted to split, and especially why she waited on all boy's birthday? Thats beyond ruthless.

BTW, that happened to a friend of mine as well, recently. I went to go swoop him up. They werent crazy serious, but he really liked her. He rented out a spot right on the beach so they could have a romantic weekend. She showed up...was like, "naw, cant do this....dueces." Ive never seen someone in such a daze. He was completely out of it. Mentally he had been hit by a bus. Never seen anything like it, when it comes to a lovelorn heart.

She said that she isn't sure if her feelings are still there, but my boy didn't ask her for the specifics and she didn't volunteer any more info. I'm not sure why in the world she waited until it was his birthday to do something like that.

Damn, that's way worse than what happened to my friend.
