A soon-to-be-married Wisconsin elementary school teacher was arrested after her alleged sexual assault of a child that included making out with an elementary school student.
Madison Bergmann, 24, was charged Thursday with first degree sexual assault of a child - sexual contact or intercourse with a person under 13.
In a letter to parents, officials with the Hudson School District said she was a teacher at River Crest Elementary.
The victim is an 11-year-old boy, according to the criminal complaint, and was one of her fifth grade students. The complaint said the victim's father alerted school staff after finding troubling text messages between the two of them.
The school reported this to law enforcement and placed Bergamnn on administrative leave.
"Learning about a school staff member and alleged inappropriate conduct that breaches trust is deeply troubling for us all," the letter to parents read. "We understand the gravity of the situation and are committed to providing the necessary support for any child who may be impacted."
Bergmann was given a $25,000 cash bond in court on Thursday. She is not allowed to have contact with anyone under 18, including any student at the elementary school.
