Floyd and Ross
As emotions continue to boil over the death of Gorge Floyd, a Black Man pressed to death under the knees of a white police officer, his girlfriend, friend and others close to him have spoken about his personality.

They all say he was not a violent man, with the girlfriend, Courteney Ross even saying he had a sense of forgiveness.

President Donald Trump has ordered investigation into the matter even after the man and other two cops who watched Floyd die have been dismissed.

Ross said, “You know, if he was here, he would say that he’s a man of God. He would stand on that firmly.

“He stood up for people, he was there for people when they were down, he loved people that were thrown away,” Ross added. “We prayed over every meal, we prayed if we were having a hard time, we prayed if we were having a good time.”

She, however, asked people to forgive the suspect, saying hurting and hating should not multiply.

“You can’t fight fire with fire. Everything just burns, and I’ve seen it all day, people hate, they’re hating, they’re hating, they’re mad. And he would not want that. He wouldn’t, he wouldn’t, he wouldn’t. He would give grace. I stand on that today. He would still give grace to those people,” she said.

Ross said Floyd’s mother died about a year ago. She believes his mother’s spirit was there with him when he took his last breath.

MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota — While George Floyd's name became known to the world for his last moments on Earth, friends and family are remembering all the memories that came before.

"I loved George Floyd. I keep telling everyone, he's the man I loved," Courteney Ross said. "He was not only the man I loved but the man I admired. He taught me so many things in this life—in three short years. He taught me how to be a better person."

Ross said everybody called Floyd by his last name. They met when Ross was visiting a loved one at the Salvation Army while Floyd was working security for them.

"He just saw how taxed I was and came over and prayed with me, loved me and we were together ever since," Ross said.

Floyd lived in St. Louis Park. The 46-year-old moved to Minnesota from Houston, Texas. He's the father of two daughters.

Ruth and Jovanni Thunstrom, owners of Conga Latin Bistro in Minneapolis, said Floyd worked there as a security guard for the past five years.

"He's more than an employee, he's a close friend. He's like a brother to me and same thing to her," Jovanni said.

Jovanni said Floyd liked his job, knew customers by their first names and would make sure Ruth made it safely to her car at night when Jovanni wasn't there.

"Everybody loved Floyd. We all have good memories of him. We all share stories. After hours, he always helped," Jovanni said.

George Floyd worked as a security guard at Conga Latin Bistro in Minneapolis for about five years.
During an interview with the TODAY Show, Floyd's sister Bridgett Floyd said firing the officers involved is not enough and that they should face charges.

"Faith is something that me and my brother always talked about because he was a God-fearing man, regardless of what he'd done." Bridgett told TODAY. "We all have our faults, we all make mistakes, nobody is perfect but I believe that justice will be served. I have enough faith to stand on it."

Ross said she won't watch the video that shows a Minneapolis police officer with his knee of Floyd's neck.

When asked how Floyd made her feel, Ross became emotional and said, "Floyd could take anyone and lift them up and lift their spirits without even knowing. He wouldn't want me to cry. He wouldn't want anyone to cry. I can feel his arm around me right now. It's just the way I met him. He's just taking care of me because he saw that I was down. He would do that for anybody.

Ross said Floyd’s daughter still lives in Houston, and so do a lot of his family and friends.

I almost feel like the title (not just yours but the whole narrative) is clickbait. She said what she said but she was more speaking on his character as a man, not making a statement about policy or what should happen here. RIP to this breh. I just don't want to give light to distractions like this.
