Geno Smith is finding himself in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons this month.

A source told the Daily News the Jets quarterback was booted off a Virgin America flight out of Los Angeles International Airport on Friday because he refused to get off his cellphone after being asked to do so three times by the flight crew.

The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m., the source said, when LAX Port Authority cops got a call to respond to an incident at Gate 37A. A Virgin America supervisor had already escorted Smith from the gate and both were at the airline’s kiosk because the flight had already departed.

The supervisor told the cops that the captain hadn’t wanted Smith on the flight.

There was another account that involved some headphones:

http://espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/story/_/id/10312446/geno-smith-new-york-jets-exits-plane-dispute

The altercation was triggered when a Virgin America flight attendant asked Smith to remove his headphones, a source familiar with the situation told ESPN New York. Smith didn't immediately respond because he didn't hear the flight attendant, the person said.

The flight attendant unplugged Smith's headphones and "threw them down," telling the quarterback he was a "threat" and asking him to leave the plane, according to the source. Smith requested to speak with police, the person added.

Also the flight attendant was male. Most likely white. :mjpls:

So what happened with this story?

We were waiting for our flight at LAX to Vegas and were put on standby on Virgin American just like Geno. We were told to get seat assignment at 2:40. Apparently Geno was not on board with that. My friend walked over to discuss seat assignment and Geno was saying to airline ticket agents, "fukk that, this is bullshyt." "Why the fukk do I have to wait until 2:40." He would not let it go. He continued to curse and be loud for about 5 minutes. Police were called. They talked for a few minutes and then 3 officers escorted him out of the terminal.

I blame Rex Ryan for running a circus...times like this is why I'm proud to be a Giants fan...we may have some bad years sprinkled in with the great ones but for the most part our guys are classy
