Lee's excuse for joining the confederacy was that he didn't want to fight his family. That was a fukking lie because he had relatives in the north including a nephew who died fighting. His sister never forgave him and never talked to him again after that.
As a general he sucked. If he was good he wouldn't have gotten his ass kicked by the union army. They didn't lose "against all odds" the lost cause myth is propaganda designed to make these morons think that the reason they lost was due to anything other than their own stupidity and incompetence.
shyt the war wasn't even about whether slavery should be legal at the beginning. Greedy slave owners wanted to expand their profits by SPREADING IT throughout the north and south into Mexico even. Deluded rich a$$holes were feeling themselves because they were able to brutalize and own human beings. They thought of themselves as invincible due to their wealth and power. They got their wakeup call and true to form, their inbred, slackjawed mutant descendants didn't learn their lesson.
