This was true for a long time, but the extremism of the Republican and the fact that they are on the opposing side of so many issues that are important to young people (Climate change, LGBTQ rights, etc) may be shifting this.

That's true, but Gen Z & Millenials have had the highest turnout of "young voters" in the past few election cycles compared to previous generations of "young voters."

In 2016 55% of voters between 18-29 voted dem while in 2022 that same demographic voted for Dems at 63%
