Gabby Union is claiming that she had no knowledge of Nate Parker's previous legal issues/criminal case. :shookbedwench:

And, on top of that, she's piling on Nate Parker even though HE'S ALREADY BEEN ACQUITTED :AreYouFnKiddingMe:

In her own words:
"Since Nate Parker’s story was revealed to me, I have found myself in a state of stomach-churning confusion. I took this role because I related to the experience. I also wanted to give a voice to my character, who remains silent throughout the film. In her silence, she represents countless black women who have been and continue to be violated. Women without a voice, without power. Women in general. But black women in particular. I knew I could walk out of our movie and speak to the audience about what it feels like to be a survivor."

But Nate Parker's accuser was a WHITE woman. And he was acquitted by a predominantly-white jury in a very conservative central Pennsylvania court. :what:

She continues:
"I took this part in this film to talk about sexual violence. To talk about this stain that lives on in our psyches. I know these conversations are uncomfortable and difficult and painful. But they are necessary. Addressing misogyny, toxic masculinity, and rape culture is necessary. Addressing what should and should not be deemed consent is necessary."

And there she goes using those *white* feminist talking points. :snoop: And, honestly, if women collectively want to address those issues, that's fine. But that conversation needs a proper context. Nate Parker's situation is NOT the proper context. Yet, this doesn't stop dominant society, and certain factions in our community, from painting Nate Parker and other high-profile black men as misogynists, sexual deviants and conduits of rape culture, facts be damned.

She closes in saying:
"It is my hope that we can use this as an opportunity to look within. To open up the conversation. To reach out to organizations which are working hard to prevent these kinds of crimes. And to support its victims. To donate time or money. To play an active role in creating a ripple that will change the ingrained misogyny that permeates our culture. And to eventually wipe the stain clean."

It's been one hell of a weak for c00ns.:beli:

Anything for that butter biscuit, right Gabby? :mjpls:

Nobody gives a fukk about Stephen Collins. :what:

Y'all gotta stop bringing that up every time a black celebrity is accused of rape.

Because its very apparent how black people are treated in the court system even when their innocent compared to full blown white people who was guilty that has gotten away with it. They tend to not even think about them... :coffee: that's all...

I think Gabby Union was raped at college or something at a young age. It's on her wikipedia page I believe.

Maybe she's taking this to heart.

she was raped while working at a Payless before she got famous, something about an insecure back door or a bad manager. Whether you believe her story or not, she clearly had aspirations of being more than a manager at Payless.

oh by the way, have you see the chicks that work at Payless, Got Dayum
