they made the best music when they were high :ohlawd:
Yup. George told Eddie to play like he just heard that his mom died, and then told that she is still alive :wow:

Incredible era for them. Unfortunately, most of their harder edge and psychedelic stuff is ignored in deference to the mid and later 70's funkier stuff. Cool thread. Clinton references the man in my avi(Horace Silver, not Miles) as a huge influence. If you like Hard Bop Jazz, check out his stuff.

Yeah. 1 of my favorite Funkadelic albums alongside Maggot Brain is Free Your Mind and Your Ass Will Follow. That album is a trip on record! :wow:

I'll check for Horace Silver, I've never checked him out before. Thanks for the recommendation. Dap and +rep :salute:

Yeah, Eddie. Well, they all were tripping off LSD they started recording, George told Eddie to play as if he had just heard his mom died but then hear that she was in fact still alive. :damn:

It's amazing how productive artists back then STILL were even under the influence. :whew:

He did a great job. I like his live version.

Eddie and Mike together live

This from last year.

I don't give a flying fukk that white folks have rock on lock now. I've said it many times, and I'll say it many times again: NOBODY plays rock guitar like brehs. Nobody. Hazel, Prince, Hendrix, Berry, Christopher Jasper, Jesse Johnson, Ike Turner.

Yup. I forgot about him. There's something about black guitarists. I think they put the black experience in their playing. I ain't gonna totally shyt on white guitarist cuz there are some that are among the GOATS, but I think too much attention is given to things like shredding ability. I was blew out one night and was listening to The Walk by the Time. Everybody talks about Prince's solo on Purple Rain, but his solo on The Walk :lawd: 5:50 -6:50
